After our stay at the jungle villa in Ubud (here you can find out more about the fantastic and affordable villa) we continued our journey towards Tanjung Benoa to the Grand Aston Bali Beach Resort (more about the hotel). Three really hot days and almost no shade made us long for spending our second half of the trip at the beach enjoying some wind and the water.
We were really impressed by the design of the resort and the attention for detail it offered but also the variety of restaurants to choose from. Four restaurants serving lunch and dinner as well as two bars offering yummy cocktails ensured our well-being. Flo took the chance to do some water sports in the pool and it took him a while to return to our sunbeds. Why? Well, he found a pool bar serving really tasty drinks at the far end of the pool.
One of the most impressive things were the variety and the location of the breakfast buffet. We enjoyed a huge selection of fruit and pastries as well as an English or Chinese breakfast. There was one thing though we didn’t like, the fruit juices just didn’t taste good. Instead of fresh juices they (not only here, also at the Payogan Resort in Ubud) offered something that tasted like water with syrup, too sweet and kind of chemical. We don’t get why as they have all the delicious fruit at the buffet.
We definitely want to recommend this resort for everyone who decides to spend his vacation at a hotel that offers tons of opportunities to spoil yourself and unwind & relax at the pool. The resort also offers a nice stretch of beach where you can walk a while into the shallow light blue waters. And at low tide you can even walk to a sandy island about 200 meters offshore.
